i really enjoyed viewing the photos of earl shilton. i was born there in the mid 1940's,living in wood road for a time before moving to other areas of the village. i remember harry's picture house(9 old pennies to get in!) and the skating rink when it opened. my dad worked at ladkins shoe factory until retirement. i remember swindleys shop in wood street and the chemist. lots of memories. m.

Do you know if Lynton House is still situated on Station Rd, as a lady, who is soon to visit E.S, would love to view it, as her Great Grandfather used to live there ?

Any idea how Almey Lane got its name ? i would love to know as my maiden name is Almey and i have traced my family tree back to Nathaniel Almey 1786 so there must be a connection - i would welcome any info
